CASE: VIP-JUICEMAKER OY

Beverage warehouse management

“Real-time data on product location and numbers accelerates throughput. We also expect the solution to make our work flows and data flows more efficient.” Esa Lappalainen, CFO, VIP-Juicemaker Oy

Background

VIP-Juicemaker Oy, established in 1996, is a private-label supplier serving retail chains. The company also markets its own brands. Products include high-quality juices, nectars, wellness and energy drinks, and soft drinks. The 21,000 m² production facilities are in Kuopio.

In 2010, VIP-Juicemaker’s total production volume was more than 110 million litres and its turnover approximately 56 million euros. The company, with 80 personnel, is part of the international Refresco Holding B.V. Group, which is Europe’s largest supplier of non-alcoholic drinks.

The initial situation

”VIP-Juicemaker originally used Refresco’s SAP ERP solution, but we found that it didn’t adequately support the intralogistics processes of our Kuopio factory,” says CFO Esa Lappalainen.

After comparing alternatives, the company opted for a FidaWare solution from Roima Intelligence Inc. Key factors in the decision included Roima’s many years of experience in supplying intralogistics solutions for the beverage industry and FidaWare’s versatile features, modularity, and scalability.

The solution

”The internal logistics concept of the Kuopio factory involves the FidaWare software and our warehouse infrastructure,” Lappalainen continues and adds: “FidaWare manages the labelling of end products, their reception from production, shelving, storage, order-picking, and shipping.”

FidaWare is integrated with the company’s SAP ERP and NOVA systems. This comprehensive delivery included the FidaWare MMS, WMS, and OMS modules; onboard terminals for the warehouse trucks; barcode readers; a Wi-Fi network; and the implementation of the system.

Results

“To make the supply chain more transparent, this FidaWare solution includes a special labelling application that facilitates monitoring of individual products and greatly improves traceability.

Use of real-time data on product location and numbers accelerates throughput. We also expect the solution to make our work flows and data flows more efficient,” Lappalainen concludes.
