The initial situation
Finland’s biggest and most modern cargo port, Vuosaari Harbour, in eastern Helsinki, was opened in 2008 and accommodates up to 4,000 workplaces. The construction costs came to approximately €690 million.
One of the resident companies is Nurminen Logistics Services Oy, who built a full-service logistics centre on the harbour premises. The 11-hectare site is now home to an efficiently organised logistics environment with a total floor area of 50,000 m². This modular space allows for flexible adaptation to many customers’ needs, which poses obvious challenges for the intralogistics data system.
FidaWare, complemented with customer-specific modifications specified by Nurminen Logistics, makes it possible for Nurminen Logistics to offer its end customers tailor-made service packages (such as freight handling, storage, rail transport, and forwarding) along with related value-added services.
All operation functions at the terminal are managed through FidaWare.

FidaWare proved to be an efficient, versatile solution for the production of logistics services. With its help, terminal operations have improved considerably. Throughput has become much faster with FidaWare – in fact, logistics data service processes now take only a fifth of the time required by the customer’s previous system. In addition, FidaWare has made service production more transparent and traceable, thereby creating significantly better conditions for operations control in production. Operations’ productivity has increased substantially.
