Based on Roima FidaWare, the module manages the autonomous crane's task queue.
The ANDRITZ Wood Processing product group and Roima have agreed to cooperate in connection with the delivery of the autonomous crane software module. In the past, the companies have collaborated at ANDRITZ’s Finnish machine shops. The project that has now been launched will enable us to expand cooperation globally.
The first delivery will be made in Finland. The cranes delivered to the end customer are the world’s first autonomous logyard cranes. They utilize the latest AI technologies that enable optimized log handling, minimization of raw material waste and environmentally friendly operation. Roima is one of the suppliers in a broader cooperation network that enables a revolutionary overall solution.
Roima’s share of the total solution covers the management and optimization of the crane’s tasks. Roima delivers functionalities based on its FidaWare product, which is a comprehensive solution for managing material flows. Roima FidaWare is used by dozens of companies in both logistics and industrial sectors.
“We were looking for a fully integrated solution for crane control and chose Roima’s solution as a more suitable option. The key selection criteria was the flexibility of both the FidaWare solution and Roima to enable a new kind of crane concept.”
-Ilkka Manninen, Director, Logyard Crane Business

Tommi Nylander, Director of Logistics at Roima, shares the same view: “I believe that our solution was the most suitable option for ANDRITZ’s needs and I see the possibility of long-term successful cooperation in the supply of autonomous logyard cranes”.

The companies’ common goal is to continue delivering autonomous cranes after the Kemi bioproduct mill to new customers and at the same time to develop the crane’s capabilities further.
