The order-producing company Alfa Laval is establishing a new logistics center in Qingdao, China, from where the company will supply components and spare parts for complex heating and fluid systems for ships and various industries worldwide. The decision was made to implement LOGIA WMS to manage and support the warehouse processes using the same setup implemented at the warehouse in Aalborg.
Since 2018, Alfa Laval has been utilizing the LOGIA warehouse management system at their Aalborg logistics center, serving two business units dedicated to new sales and spare parts sales.
The company has experienced good results with LOGIA WMS at the logistics center in Aalborg. For this reason, Alfa Laval has decided to implement the same warehouse setup at the new logistics center in Qingdao, which includes both a project warehouse and spare parts warehouse. The warehouse management system will control all processes from goods receipt to shipping and will be integrated with Alfa Laval's ERP system, Microsoft Dynamics AX.
In the project warehouse, the WMS solution ensures that both produced items and other project-specific purchases for large customer projects are picked and packed in the correct quantity and sequence according to the customer's project planning. The spare parts warehouse supplies operational plants with spare parts for maintenance and repair.
Roima is working on the technical implementation, and later a team from Alfa Laval in Aalborg will travel to Qingdao to train and supervise their colleagues in China.
